Magpies Mix Tape: Undone in Sorrow

Words, Image, Playlist By Tracie Noles-Ross

In the summer of 2023, I took a roadtrip into the Blue Ridge Mountains for an Artist Residency in the Pisgah National Forest. It was the first time I’d left home or really even been alone since my husband died of cancer in the fall of 2021. I made 3 playlists to listen to while working in my solitary cabin in the woods. This is the first. I call it my Undone in Sorrow Playlist, named for the Ola Belle Reed song.

I had a hard time sitting alone with my grief in that little cabin in the woods. The music helped.
